Hockey Picks for March 20th, 2010

Last Night's Record: 3-1
Record for the week: 12-5

Last night was quite an interesting night. Two of my picks came back in the third and once again almost had a perfect night if not for Devan Dubnyk and his first win.

Anyways, here are my picks for tonight's games.

St. Louis Blues at New Jersey Devils

New Jersey is fighting Pittsburgh right now for the lead in the Atlantic Division. They are currently one point behind the Penguins. The issue is that New Jersey has lost 10 of there last 11 games on the road, not helping there cause. Luckily, they are riding a five game home winning streak. St. Louis on the other hand, is one of the best road teams in the league, also winning 8 of there last 11 games.

Look for the Devils to win this one with Brodeur stealing the show.

Philadelphia Flyers at Atlanta Thrashers

Atlanta has been one heck of a surprise. Since trading there former captain Ilya Kovalchuk, Atlanta hasn't been half bad, going 6-6-3 and putting themselves three points out of a playoff spot. Plus with them beating playoff teams Ottawa and Buffalo, they are on a roll. The Philadelphia Flyers have had some issues in net, but with Brian Boucher having a stellar performance against Dallas, who knows. The real key stat here is simple, Atlanta against Philly is 6-26-3 all-time. Enough said.

Look for Philly to beat Atlanta in a high scoring game.

Philadelphia over Atlanta

Columbus Blue Jackets at Nashville Predators

Both of these teams have been playing very well. Nashville has won five of six while holding a four game winning streak while Columbus has won four of its last five while winning its last two. The only difference here is that Columbus is all but out of the playoffs while Nashville is securely in 7th position and stepping up there game. Both teams are playing there starting goalies tonight so look for a low scoring game.

Look for Nashville to take this one

New York Islanders at Los Angeles Kings

Wow! What a way to lose last night for the Islanders. Were going into the third period with a two goal lead and come out with a loss against Anaheim. The key stat here for the Islanders is they have been out scored 78-40 in the third period, worst in the NHL. Los Angeles has been on a bit of a skid, going 3-4-2 since the Olympic break, letting Calgary edge closer to them, being only four points away. So hopefully this is a game in which they can take advantage of a team that played and lost in a heart breaker the night before.

Look for Los Angeles to win a big game tonight. Possibly by two.

Upset of the Night!!!

Montreal Canadiens at Toronto Maple Leafs

The most classic rivalry in the NHL is being played out tonight when the surging Montreal Canadiens go into Toronto to face the pesky Maple Leafs. Montreal has a six game winning streak while Toronto has been playing better than a last place team, winning 5 of their last 6 and their last 4 at home. But all streaks have to come to and end and who better to do it against Montreal than by the rival Toronto Maple Leafs.

Look for Toronto to win an intense game.

Alright fans, those are my picks for tonight's games and come back tomorrow for more predictions from the Chicken Man himself.
